The chain dubbed its fast-food Mexican-inspired fare as West-Mex to differentiate it from Tex-Mex. The term also applies to its service attitude and, in the process, established its brand. According to the company, West-Mex means the food items have a fresh and bold flavors because of the spices, sauces and salsas, as well as Potato Oles (crispy potato nuggets).
