About Shoney's
In 1952, Alex Schoenbaum became a Big Boy Restaurants licensee. But within two years, his business was so successful that he changed its name to Shoney's and sub-franchised it. By the 1980s, the chain's Big Boy affiliation was dropped and a new corporate entity, Shoney's North America Corporation, was created for the brand.
Today, there are approximately 150 Shoney's restaurants in several states including Maryland, Florida, Texas, Missouri, and Ohio. The restaurants offer a wide selection of contemporary American staples from pancakes to burgers. These are also known for their efficient service, friendly servers and vibrant ambience, a combination that complements the reasonable Shoney's prices.
The menu is filled with satisfying, savory and filling dishes and desserts. Every location has a fresh food bar, as well as nightly specials, breakfast plates, and all-you-can-eat breakfast pancakes served fresh from the griddle. The omelets, which come in several varieties, are served with a choice of Southern-style grits or breakfast potatoes, as well as buttermilk biscuit. The lunch and dinner menus include starters, entrées, salads, and side dishes, as well as burgers, sandwiches, and Coke beverages.
