About Kolache Factory

The Kolache Factory, which was established by John and Jerri Banks in Houston, Texas in 1982, is known for its kolache, a slightly sweet pastry filled with cheese, sausage or fruit. Kolache is served warm to enjoy its delicious flavors, especially as a breakfast item.

Kolache Factory prices are comparable to those of donut shops.

Kolaches are popular pastries in Eastern Europe but these were virtually unheard of in the United States before the Banks introduced them. Eventually, kolaches became so popular in the Houston area that these were served in personal gatherings and professional meetings, as well as enjoyed by students, executives and the working man. These pastries are, in fact, designed to be eaten on the run as a breakfast item although many have also enjoyed in for lunch, dinner and snacks.

The menu includes Sunrise Delights (bacon and cheese with gravy), South of the Border, and Jalapeno Popper Ranchero. There are also specialties like the dinner rolls ham, egg and cheese croissant, as well as the Meal in One.
